“I have no problem with Salah and Van Dijk. They are two of the greatest for L’pool. L’pool are a club run by data. I’m not saying he shouldn’t get a two-year deal or give him big money. He’s on big money now. The club is not built on giving them what they want. That’s where the success of the club has come from. They are ahead of the game. Buying Mo Salah for £40 million when no-one else looked at him because they are ahead of the game. L’pool, keep doing what you are doing. You move the dial for a Salah or Van Dijk.”

Liverpool won 2-0 on Sunday with Mohamed Salah scoring from the spot against Manchester City. The Egyptian assisted the first goal with Cody Gakpo scoring in the first half.

Jamie Carragher called Mohamed Salah selfish for Liverpool contract comments

Jamie Carragher was furious with Mohamed Salah for his comments on the Liverpool contract status. He claimed that the former Chelsea man should not have spoken out as they had two big games against Manchester City and Real Madrid coming up. He said:

“I must say I am very disappointed with Mo Salah. L’pool have Real Madrid midweek [in the Champions League ] and Man City at the weekend. That’s the story right now. If he keeps putting comments out, his agent puts out cryptic messages, that is selfish. That is thinking about themselves and not the football club.”

Salah once again admitted that the contract talks are in his head and said on Sunday:

“Honestly, it’s in my head. Until now this is the last City game I will play for L’pool so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully we just win the league and will see what will happen.”

Liverpool won the matches against Real Madrid and Manchester City by the same scoreline. However, the contract status remains the same with Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also kept waiting.
