Jurgen Klopp has hit back at Erling Haaland’s punishment following Liverpool’s fine and suspension.

 

Erling Haaland was furious with referee Simon Hooper after Manchester City drew 3-3 with Tottenham Hotspur.

Jurgen Klopp says he is not worried about Erling Haaland receiving the same punishment as Virgil van Dijk after he was sent off at Newcastle.

Haaland was left furious after Norway international referee Simon Hooper refused to use Jack Grealish’s late pass during Manchester City’s 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad on Sunday night.

The centre-forward later tweeted the acronym ‘wtf’ in response to the video and claimed the City striker could face sanctions from the Football Association as a result of the outburst.

Van Dijk was fined £100,000 and banned from further matches in response to his sacking by Newcastle last August. Some wondered if Haaland would suffer a similar fate due to his post-match mood.

“For years, no one would believe anything Virgil said. [He] said, “F****** joke,” right? I don’t know what Holland said, but I didn’t do that.

“This is. To be honest, I didn’t even think about it for a second, and when I heard about it, it wasn’t like, “Oh, we get that. They don’t.” It’s much easier if you don’t get emotionally involved.
