Jurgen klopp ignore Virgil Van Dijk and Mo Salah in naming his all time best signing

Liverpool’s change under Jurgen Klopp was jealous of all other major European clubs.
Spending big on a player is no guarantee of success, just ask Chelsea, but even the mega-money moves under Klopp have been virtually flawless. Alisson and Virgil van Dijk cost more than £70m, but it could be argued that both were bargains. But Klopp has never identified any of them as his best signings since taking charge at Anfield in October 2015. Instead, the honor goes to a player who didn’t cost the club a penny in 2015.

When asked on the Pure Football podcast what his best signings were in 2020, Klopp explained that his best signings were not home grown, but players he developed in his academy. He was, of course, talking about current vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold. “This is Trent (Alexander-Arnold).” said the Reds manager. “We didn’t have to buy him, but my assistant Pep Lijnders brought him in and said: ‘He’s No. 6 for me.’ He played as a defender, he also played on the right wing and he also played on the left wing.“Then he came and there was just one problem. Trent wasn’t healthy enough. But he wasn’t good enough because he’s a boy, but I saw immediately that from a football point of view there was no doubt.

Give us your opinion! Where does Alexander-Arnold rank among the best right backs in the world?

Then he made a mistake and didn’t surrender.”Alexander-Arnold is now widely recognized as one of the best in the world at his job. While defensive vulnerabilities remain, the England international’s technical ability is such that he is a constant source of attacking threat and is capable of unlocking any defense with one of his horizontal passes.

Liverpool still have a few superstars in their ranks, but Alexander-Arnold has a bright future ahead of him, having won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup at the age of 25.
