Jurgen Klopp won’t mind mistake pundits and rival supporters keep making about Liverpool

Liverpool started 2024 in the best way possible on Monday night, beating Newcastle United 4-2 in a performance that dominated from start to finish. The Reds could have extended their goal tally on the night, but their main objective was to get all three points at Anfield. Liverpool now head into the FA Cup third round against Arsenal at the Emirates full of confidence following a statement for the Magpies.
Four Liverpool fans share their thoughts on the win at Newcastle and ahead of this weekend’s trip to the capital as part of the ECHO’s weekly fan column.

The day before the New Year, I still felt the first days of the world after the end of Newcastle on Monday night. How to start the late season. The game meant everything to me, but the decision was ultimately made in the spirit of fighting against the odds that came to define Liverpool’s season. There’s no denying that this month’s Premier League fixtures should take precedence over the two cup competitions. Especially away at Bournemouth, where we dropped three points last year.

Despite the losses of Wataru Endo and Mohamed Salah, I think we have a strong squad for Sunday’s FA Cup third round clash with Arsenal and Fulham in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals. Despite some strong performances during the tournament, I’d like to see players like Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez score some goals to boost confidence in the league.

Liverpool’s two questionable penalties (both of which I believe were penalties) should not detract from a strong and impressive display. Question marks remain over Darwin Nunez. His missed opportunities often hinder good play overall. It’s fair to say that he veers from spectacular to silly at times, but continues to influence the game despite being in front of goal so much.

As Klopp mentioned after the game against Newcastle, Nunez played a crucial role, providing an assist to Salah at a crucial moment in the game. I don’t think it matters if Nunez scores a goal every game as long as he continues to impact the game.In the middle of last week, when I was returning from my first Christmas in Beijing and preparing for a short trip to Qingdao, one of my friends sent me a short message. “I think Liverpool handled things very calmly.
