Two of Alabama’s most iconic names from the Nick Saban era are teaming up for a new Crimson Tide-centric podcast. On Monday, Touchdown Alabama announced that former Heisman finalist and star running back Trent Richardson will join forces with three-time BCS National Champion quarterback AJ McCarron and longtime Alabama play-by-play man Chris Stewart for a new weekly podcast titled “The Dynasty.” Richardson spent three seasons with Alabama, rushing for 751 yards and eight touchdowns as a true freshman, with the Crimson Tide beating Texas 37-21 in the BCS National Championship game. Richardson became the lead back in 2011, his third and final season donning the crimson red. He tallied 1,679 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns while finishing third in Heisman Trophy voting. Alabama again won the BCS title.
Conversely, McCarron was the starting quarterback for Alabama during Richardson’s final year at the school. However, his best seasons came in 2012 and 2013, with the gunslinger throwing for 58 touchdowns against ten interceptions, winning the Maxwell Award during his final year. Like Richardson, he led Alabama to two titles as a starter. The podcast with Richardson and McCarron will take a deep dive into the current state of Alabama football while also reflecting on the program’s historic dominance, particularly during the Saban-led golden years, which featured McCarron under center and Richardson bulldozing SEC defenses. The show premieres this Wednesday, with new episodes set to drop weekly. While football will be the primary focus, “The Dynasty” will also spotlight Alabama basketball, baseball, and other sports, offering a broader view of Crimson Tide athletics.
