Following Nick Saban’s unexpected retirement, many players entered the transfer portal. One of those players, left tackle Kadyn Proctor, had one of the more roller coaster portal adventures.
After originally transferring to his home state Iowa Hawkeyes, Proctor jumped back in the portal after just a few weeks in Iowa City. Just like that, Proctor went from Alabama to Iowa before returning to Tuscaloosa.
Now, Proctor is seen as one of the leaders of the team as he heads into his third year as a starter. The former five-star is excited for the 2025 offensive line group.
“Offensive line-wise, I know we’re gonna come on,” Proctor said. “Me, Parker Brailsford, Geno (VanDeMark), he’s finna get some stuff done. I’m coming back from surgery. Once we’re all healthy, it’s gonna be something special for real.”
Alabama is going through some difficulties with its offensive line as the Crimson Tide attempts to replace right guard Tyler Booker, who is off to the NFL, and Elijah Pritchett, who transferred to Nebraska.
Not only has Alabama been searching for the right lineup, but offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic is having to do it with Proctor sidelined. Still, the Crimson Tide has two anchors on the interior with center Parker Brailsford and left guard Jaeden Roberts locked in.
This is just another aspect of a fascinating offseason for the Alabama offense. At the sport’s most important position, quarterback, the Crimson Tide has an ongoing battle with fifth-year player Ty Simpson seen as the clear favorite. Still, Simpson has never started a game and owns just 29 career completions.
