The Los Angeles Lakers may have unintentionally stumbled upon a gem.
His name is Cole Swider.
A day after scoring 24 points to open Summer League, Swider followed up with another 20 points.
He was efficient again, 7-for-10 from the floor and 2-for-5 from 3. He added three rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block as the Lakers blasted the Heat by 20 points at the California Classic.
Swider was a late addition to the Lakers’ Summer League roster. He’s been an NBA journeyman who has spent most of his time in the G League.
He has three G League seasons of at least 43% 3-point shooting, which is the key number here.
Offenses featuring guys like LeBron James and Luka Doncic need players who can stand around the arc and space out the opposing defense.
Swider is exactly that guy.
