Liverpool are desperate’ – Fabinho speaks out on Saudi moves for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

Fabinho plays his football in Saudi Arabia and has spoken about the prospect of Liverpool stars joining him

 

Fabinho says he’s not spoken to his former Liverpool team-mates Mohamed Salah or Virgil van Dijk about joining him in Saudi Arabia at the end of their Anfield contracts. Salah, Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will all become free agents in summer 2025 with Liverpool still unable to agree new deals with all three.

There have been links to Saudi Arabia for both Salah and Van Dijk, with Fabinho joining Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and initially Jordan Henderson in moving to the kingdom following their Anfield careers

Fabinho plays for Al-Ittihad, who are second behind Mane’s Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, and he says he’s not been in touch with his old team-mates, who he says Liverpool are desperate to sign to new deals.

I haven’t talked to them lately and to be honest I didn’t see any news about them coming to the Saudi League or leaving Liverpool,” he told FourFourTwo

 

“I know that some players like Mo, Virgil and Trent are at the end of their contract, and I think Liverpool are desperate to get them a new contract, but it’s not my problem any more!”

Fabinho has been impressed with Arne Slot after the Dutchman took over from Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool boss this summer, and he’s hoping to see the Reds lift trophies this season as they fight Manchester City for the Premier League title.

For me it’s normal because Liverpool have one of the best teams in the Premier League and in Europe, so it’s not a surprise for me how well they’re doing at the moment, I think they have everything to fight with Manchester City,” he said.
