Jurgen Klopp believes his Liverpool squad have successfully filled the hole left by Jordan Henderson and James Milner as he explained why he only deals with the biggest problems among his players.
Both long-time captain Henderson and vice-captain Milner departed in the summer to prompt an overhaul of the Reds’ hierarchy with Virgil van Dijk named new skipper and Trent Alexander-Arnold his deputy, while Mohamed Salah joined Andy Robertson and Alisson Becker in the leadership group. The arrivals of Wataru Endo and Dominik Szoboszlai during the recent transfer window mean that, along with Van Dijk, Robertson and Salah, Liverpool now boast five players who are captains of their respective national teams.
