Last November, Football Insider revealed that the Merseysiders could sign star Samba, who has been put up for sale by Barca, and could be brought in for around £50million. We believe Liverpool should reach a £50m deal to sign Rafinha as Salah’s short- and long-term replacement.
The South American, who turned 27 last month, directly contributed to 14 goals in Barcelona’s La Liga-winning season, but Xavi has kept him on the bench this season. His stats remain impressive in his 12 starts in all competitions so far, with the former Leeds United winger scoring four goals and providing seven assists. Rafinha proved his worth in the Premier League at Elland Road, regularly causing problems for defenders before heading to Spain. He has the qualities to strengthen Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
To be honest, the Selecao wingers aren’t much better than Salah, but Diaz hasn’t proven he’s better than Mane yet either, and we’ve yet to properly replace the rare gem that is Firmino. But Klopp has found players who fit the system and on the wings.
He likes direct, quick stars who can beat opponents and score goals, and we think Rafinha ticks all the boxes. Do you think Liverpool should agree to £50m to sign Rafinha during the winter transfer window?
Liverpool do not have an effective replacement for Mohamed Salah at right-back and must use the January transfer window to sign a quality striker. Liverpool have been linked with a number of players, including Brazil international Rafinha.
