Wilson is now 31 years old and has battled injuries this season. Solanke has doubled his tally from last season with 12 goals in his last 19 games and the England striker is finally starting to show his potential. The 26-year-old made an appearance for England in 2017, but with only Erling Haaland and Mo Salah scoring more Premier League goals this season, a call-up from Gareth Southgate could be just around the corner.
Bournemouth are expected to play hard against their talisman, while Liverpool would benefit greatly from a potential transfer. Solanke joined from Liverpool in 2019 for a total of £24m. The Englishman has struggled on Merseyside, making just 27 appearances and scoring just once in all competitions. The total compensation will now be determined by the additional costs to be paid, but the Liverpool Echo revealed it also includes a 20% buy-sell clause. The striker’s current form and any further betrayals in the January transfer window will force Newcastle to pay a hefty sum for Solanke’s services, which will ultimately benefit Liverpool. But Bournemouth owner Bill Foley is adamant the club are not prepared to sell their prized assets, whatever the cost.”The doors are closed and bolted,” he told BBC Radio Solent Sport.
Newcastle are interested in Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke and the deal could be a huge one for his former club Liverpool. The Telegraph claim that Eddie Howe’s side have questioned the availability of Solanke, who is having the performance of his life this season. Newcastle already have attacking options in Callum Wilson and Alexander Isaac, but Wilson is currently ruled out until at least the end of the month and this could be an important area for Howe.
Solanke has since signed two new contracts to stay at the Vitality Stadium until 2027, but those clauses are believed to remain in place.
