Liverpool need a replacement for Dominik Szoboszlai against Burnley this weekend after the Hungarian was ruled out. And that’s exactly what the fans want. Unfortunately, Dominik Soboslay picked up another injury and missed Liverpool’s game against Arsenal last weekend.
Jurgen Klopp has yet to give a timetable but it is clear he will not play against Burnley on Saturday. That means a move to Liverpool. Luckily, there are options, and we’re putting together four clear options to help X fans see who they’re looking for.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago, Harvey Elliott and Ryan Gravenbirch will all be hoping to get the nod at centre-back. All four have very strong cases and I hope the fans choose Alexander-Arnold over the others.
The Scouser has now received “only” 46.1% of the votes here, so while he is the favorite, most fans have chosen the other option. Thiago is his closest rival with 35.3%. But both have big question marks. If Connor Bradley can’t play, Alexander-Arnold will be needed at right-back. The teenager missed the Arsenal defeat due to personal reasons.
Joe Gomez is expected to start on the right, with Andy Robertson, but this is uncertain at the moment. Robertson hasn’t played more than 30 minutes since October. And Thiago was initially skeptical for similar reasons. He took part in the defeat at Arsenal, but it was his first competitive football of the season.
He is unlikely to be fit for a Premier League game. Gravenbirch started against Arsenal but failed to impress during his minutes. He might nod again, but Elliot might be a better choice.
Elliott, on the other hand, has three Premier League starts all season so no one should expect him to start. In other words, it’s hard to predict.
