This is according to former Man United, West Ham and Bolton Wanderers scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 21-year-old could “make the position his own”.

Brown previously told Football Insider that the Alexander-Arnold has already decided he wants to leave Anfield in a move to Real Madrid.

With less than a year remaining on his contract, he will be able to negotiate terms over a pre-contract deal from January ahead of a permanent move in the summer.

“He’s done so well that I’ve heard they view him as a ready-made replacement for Alexander-Arnold.

“I don’t think they’d lose too much if he was the one to step in if Trent does move to Real Madrid, he’s perfectly capable of replacing him.

“He’ll have to adapt again and get used to Slot’s system, but he’s shown he’s capable of playing in different roles and I’d back him to make that position his own.”
