Liverpool midfielder with ‘brilliant football brain’ avoids three-match suspension as statement released

It means Morton will play in Hull’s FA Cup third round tie against Birmingham City tomorrow without serving his three-match ban.

“Hull City’s Tyler Morton will be eligible for the next three matches following his successful appeal against an illegal sending off,” the FA said in a statement. The midfielder was sent off for foul play during the Premier League match against Sheffield Wednesday, January 1, 2024. Morton has made a total of nine appearances for Liverpool since his outstanding 2021/22 season. He spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, where he made 46 appearances, before signing a new long-term deal at Anfield.

After Morton made his full Champions League debut in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over AC Milan at the San Siro in December 2021, manager Jurgen Klopp said: “It was great to see the kid play. The football knowledge and football brain he showed tonight was very special.”He’s got a great football brain. If he goes to the gym and gets in shape, he’s going to be a football player!”
