Liverpool have strongly condemned the behavior of fans outside Anfield after Manchester United’s team bus was vandalized ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game. A video of a person holding a glass bottle and throwing it at a bus has been circulated on social media. After a 0-0 draw at Anfield, Liverpool hit back and announced that Merseyside Police would investigate the pre-match incident.
Liverpool Football Club said in a statement: “We strongly condemn the damage done to the Manchester United team bus as we arrived at Anfield this afternoon.”“We are aware of images of the incident which have gone viral and are working with Merseyside Police to carry out a full investigation and identify those responsible. “Anyone found guilty of this reprehensible behavior will face full sanctions through the club’s sanctioning procedures. “In 2018, a Manchester City bus was attacked outside Anfield ahead of their Champions League match against Liverpool. Liverpool apologized to City and said the actions of those responsible were “completely unacceptable”. Earlier this year, the Liverpool manager was attacked after a Premier League match against City at the Etihad Stadium.
Footage posted on social media showed an object being thrown as the Red Devils arrived at the pitch ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match. Liverpool fans set off rockets and smoke bombs as the team bus arrived ahead of the Reds’ Premier League match against Manchester United at Anfield.
