Liverpool are looking for real signings in the January transfer window. There are two reasons why Jurgen Klopp is happy with his January transfer targets.
Liverpool received a huge boost on New Year’s Eve as one of their transfer targets produced an impressive performance to help their title ambitions.
The Reds intend to scour the January transfer window for defensive signings, despite Jurgen Klopp saying he hates the middle of the season. Liverpool suffered injuries at the back, in the center of defense and on the left flank.
First choice Andy Robertson has been out for several months and his replacement Kostas Tsimikas recently broke a bone against rivals Arsenal.
Reports are mounting that Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Fulham defender Anthony Robinson with a view to signing him in January.
The speedy left-back has established himself in the Premier League and captured the heart of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. Robinson was instrumental in Fulham’s win over Arsenal on Sunday night to lift Liverpool to the top of the division.
That is just one of the reasons why Klopp, who has played a small part in Liverpool’s push for Premier League glory, is excited about a potential new contract.
What has worried Klopp even more is Robinson’s ability to deny England’s best players. In his battle with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Robinson could not play on the flanks either in attack or defence.
The 26-year-old American won the ball back for the likes of Saka and then launched a counter-attack under intense pressure and fierce effort.
Following Tsimikas’ recent injury, 90 Minutes claim Liverpool have made contact with Fulham to sign Robinson. The report claims they have discussed Robinson’s availability after signing a new five-year deal at Craven Cottage.
Robinson was one of the best players on the pitch as Fulham lost 4-3 to Liverpool at Anfield in early December. The United States international is open to a move and the Reds hope to sign him next month.
