The Reds are flying both domestically and continentally as they also lead the way in the Champions League, and it’s fair to say that perhaps Arne Slot doesn’t need any extra reinforcements in the New Year, given how well his side are doing already this season.

However, large squads are needed for success and big decisions must be made, and it would appear that a number of deals could already be in the works should the Dutchman feel he needs them.

According to Caught Offside, however, Liverpool is “believed to be in a better financial position” than its Premier League rivals to pay PSV’s $63million (£50m/€60m) asking price should they wish to make a move next month. PSV are loath to sell the player in January, although a sale would be possible for the right price.

According to recent reports, Liverpool is being linked with a move for Brighton striker Joao Pedro ahead of next summer after becoming a priority target for Slot as he looks to resolve his No.9 conundrum.

It’s believed Manchester United is also interested in acquiring the Brazilian’s services as he continues to impress for the Seagulls with four goals and three assists in nine Premier League games this season, following on from 20 goals in his debut campaign last term.

While a January move is off the cards, Trivela reports that those close to Pedro feel he’s ‘100% prepared’ to take the next step at the end of this season and is ‘already negotiating’ with both Liverpool and Man United over a move, with a transfer battle expected to ensue.
