Liverpool has endured a difficult week and is now five points off the pace at the top of the Premier League. The draw with West Ham was overshadowed by a touchline spat involving Jürgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah, who had been dropped to the bench at the London Stadium. His future at Anfield is unclear with his contract up this summer but three more players could be in line for new deals. Here is the latest Liverpool news after the 2-2 draw.
Reds braced for fresh Salah bid?
Mohamed Salah’s row with Jürgen Klopp sparked fresh speculation over his future at Liverpool. Salah refused to speak to the media after the draw with West Ham, warning: “There is going to be fire today if I speak.”
Salah has just one year remaining on his Liverpool contract and will turn 32 in the summer. He has struggled for form since returning from injury and there are suggestions that he could move on this summer.
Saudi Pro League clubs tried to sign the Egyptian for $Xm (£150m/€Xm) a year ago and Football Insider reports Liverpool is braced for fresh interest at the end of the season. It is claimed the Reds expect a similar figure to be offered as last summer, despite Salah’s contract running down.
Should Salah stay at Liverpool and not sign a new deal, he will be free to talk to foreign clubs as early as January, over joining on a blockbuster free transfer in 2025.
Trio in line for new deals?
Amid the uncertainty over Mohamed Salah, Liverpool must also make decisions over the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. The pair will also be out of contract at the end of next season.
