Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool will have to pay a premium to sign Wolves winger Pedro Neto, according to Football Insider. Neto joined Wolves from Lazio in 2019 for around £15.3m, but injuries have hampered his progress at the club.
Neto has missed almost 100 games in recent years but Wolves have yet to offer him a new contract in 2022. His current contract expires in 2027, so Wolves would like to get around £50-60m for the right-back. There are concerns that Mo Salah could leave for the Saudi Arabian professional league at the end of the season.
That’s why Liverpool are looking for a player like Pedro Neto to replace him.Arsenal have Bukayo Saka on the right wing and while the England international has impressed, Mikel Arteta is keen to add competition for the wide positions.
Manchester City could be the only club chasing the Portugal international without Pedro Neto and Pep Guardiola if they lose a striker or two in the summer transfer window. Neto’s current market value is £36m and they have three years left on his current contract.
A valuation of £50-60m looks reasonable on paper, but Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool are skeptical about spending that much money on a player who has produced little at Molineux. Pedro Neto has scored just 37 goals in 129 games for Wolves and is injury prone.
He is undoubtedly a top player, but he would have an important role to fill at a club like Arsenal or Liverpool.
Salah has scored 204 goals for Liverpool, while 22-year-old Bukayo Saka has 51 goals and 53 assists for the Gunners. Man City may not be the most keen on the winger, but Neto will have to compete with the likes of Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva at the Etihad.
Pedro Neto has scored eight league goals in 14 appearances this season but is valued at between £50m and £60m. A transfer fee of around £45m would be even more lucrative for the 23-year-old.
