Manchester United could sell player to raise money for defender, Liverpool told to ‘demand the price’
With all the attention focused on the FA Cup, all the latest Premier League transfer news and rumors are in the air.
The FA Cup weekend is upon us. Premier League and Championship clubs will compete for the famous old trophy as they progress to the third round. There will certainly be many challenges ahead and for some clubs the journey will end as quickly as it began.
For others, the dream doesn’t begin until this weekend. Although it is usually one of the big boys to lift the trophy, the only surprise winners in the past 28 years have been Leicester City, Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth.
Speaking of the big boys, we round up the best transfer headlines in the Premier League.
Liverpool now know how much it would cost to sign Michael Olise, as reported this winter. Manchester United are said to be interested in the Crystal Palace star, alongside Chelsea and Manchester City, but he will not be bought cheap.
Palace could demand his full release, with Football Insider reporting that his release clause is £40m.
The 22-year-old is expected to leave in the summer after recently signing a new contract.
Manchester United continue to be linked with centre-back Alessandro Bastoni. Despite the return of Lisandro Martinez this month, the Red Devils could use more depth at centre-back.
According to TV Play, United are willing to offer £51.6m for the Inter Milan star through Pichayes, but there are question marks. The Red Devils are currently dealing with FFP regulations so are unlikely to offer that much money at this stage unless they can make a significant sale.
Pellistri leaving?
One way for United to lose control would be to sanction a sale or two, and it looks like they could even send one of their wings to Spain.
According to The Sun, Villarreal are interested in Facundo Pellistri following a disappointing season so far. The Yellow Submarine are interested in a permanent deal, United are ready to offload the 22-year-old and Jadon Sancho could also be available on loan this month.
