Man City v Liverpool: Rival fans weigh in on Premier League clash, Man City’s 115 FFP charge and Liverpool’s title chances.
Manchester City fans could be forgiven for having a few thoughts at this point.
Manchester City’s 115-point haul hit the headlines again as the pressure mounts in the Premier League after a 10-point defeat at Everton.
And with the visit of arch-rivals Liverpool on Saturday, manager Pep Guardiola has plenty on his plate at the moment.
With the big game between Liverpool and Manchester City coming up on Saturday, we spoke to The Citizen to get his thoughts on the game. Each team enters the game separated by just one point, with the top five teams having just three points.
Sometimes a City win seems inevitable, but how will the fans feel this time? Ahead of Manchester City’s big game, Noel Gallagher’s comments about Liverpool have been re-examined.
I spoke to city fan Phoebe. He said: “I think it will be a tough game. But City fans are relatively confident about this.“We have a lot of injury problems, but our wide squad still allows us to field a world-class starting XI.
“In this cruel scoring situation, my biggest concern is Salah,” he said. The Egyptian striker has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, with only Erling Haaland ahead of him in the league.
Both are looking to add points this weekend. It’s a battle between 1st and 2nd place in the league, but do City fans see Liverpool as a threat in the title race? Phoebe: “I think so.
“They have invested in young players and revamped the midfield to give the forwards a good role.””It’s hard to upset Liverpool when they’re in good form, but I still see City winning the title at the end of the season.
“Manchester City looks to end the season better than it started. Last year they went over 20 league games unbeaten and in 2018/19 they have won just once since the Boxing Day fixture.
But these historically brutal feats are often necessitated by slow starts, so maybe now is the time to play the reigning champion. We also asked Phoebe about FFP, Everton’s recent points deduction and the ongoing Manchester City investigation, which is an interesting insight.
Asked if Everton’s points deduction was fair, he said: “It shows how the governing body works with FFP.” Since the deduction was announced, many have speculated what would happen to City following the announcement that they had committed 115 Premier League offences.
“If he is found guilty, the punishment will undoubtedly be severe,” Peavey said. “It will be very worrying for City fans but the club is confident they have done nothing wrong and we hope nothing happens.”
It remains to be seen what will happen with these claims and Saturday’s game. Saturday’s game sees Liverpool take an early lead in the title race.
