Memphis Tigers Face March Madness Without Star Guard Tyrese Hunter

The Memphis Tigers are entering the NCAA Tournament without their standout guard, Tyrese Hunter, due to a left foot injury. Hunter, averaging 13.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, has been instrumental in the Tigers’ successful season.

Hunter sustained the injury during the American Athletic Conference (AAC) tournament semifinal against Tulane and was subsequently sidelined for the AAC final against UAB. Despite his absence, the Tigers secured a narrow victory.

Looking ahead, Hunter has not ruled out a return should the Tigers advance deep into the tournament. He remains optimistic, stating, “I’m taking it day by day and supporting my team in any way I can.”

The Tigers will rely on other key players, including AAC Player of the Year PJ Haggerty, who averages 21.8 points per game, to step up in Hunter’s absence.

As Memphis prepares for their first-round matchup against Colorado State, the team remains hopeful for Hunter’s recovery and potential return in later rounds.
