Alexis McAllister has hit back after Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was not pictured with his Egypt team-mates celebrating his 200th goal. After his effort went past Sam Johnstone and into the Palace net, Salah’s focus quickly shifted to securing three points for United and he decided to cancel the celebrations for the traveling fans. In doing so, he failed to properly commemorate the historic moment when the Egyptian scored his 200th goal for the club and 150th in the Premier League.
Responding to Salah’s praise, Klopp joked about how long it took Salah to reach the top before praising the “special player”. “Isn’t that impressive? We’ve had this dress for two weeks and I finally got around to giving it to her! “To be 100 per cent honest, it was the best moment to score a goal,” he said and presented Salah with a commemorative number 200 shirt to commemorate the occasion.”These are fantastic numbers for a very, very special player. I don’t know how many times he saved us with his timely goals. When I gave him a shirt with the number 200 on the back, there was a lot of reaction in the dressing room. “The players asked to speak and I had to do the media work!”Salah celebrated the moment with most of his Liverpool teammates after donning Klopp’s shirt on his personal Instagram account.
But two Liverpool stars, World Cup winner Mac Allister and defender Joel Matip, were missing from the squad picture. The incident immediately turned into a joke, with the Argentine midfielder adding to Salah’s post: “Congratulations Mo Salah Thanks for waiting.”Thiago Alcantara is included in the squad picture alongside Stefan Bajcetic and Diogo Jota as he continues his recovery from injury ahead of a festive season for Klopp’s side.
Salah scored against Crystal Palace last weekend as Jurgen Klopp’s side won 2-1 in extra-time thanks to a superb injury-time winner from substitute Harvey Elliott.
