Mohamed Salah and Liverpool should ignore Cristiano Ronaldo claim as $66m transfer ‘very likely’


Liverpool could not have imagined a better start to 2024 just a week ago. Liverpool, who missed out on top spot in the Premier League at Christmas thanks to draws with Manchester united and Arsenal, are now back on top of their rivals.The win against Newcastle gave them three points and they now have a break until their next league game against Bournemouth.

Things are looking good for Liverpool, especially after last season’s disappointment. Of course, there is still a lot of work to do to make the dream of another title a reality. Repeating the first half of the campaign does not guarantee silver.

Now that the January transfer window has opened, all eyes are on whether Liverpool can build on their strength in the second half of the season. Jurgen Klopp said otherwise, but will he change his mind now? Reports in Europe suggest Liverpool could be in a position to sign a new defender as they hope Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent comments will not go unnoticed.

Given the state of his squad, the Reds manager has a few things to focus on as he looks to strengthen his title challenge. With the number of injuries at the back, defense seems to be the most important area to add. Gonzalo Inacio is one of the names regularly linked with a move to Anfield and according to O Djogo (via Paisley Gates) the $66m man could now make the list.
