After a VAR stoppage, Salah scored with a perfect ball 12 meters to the left of the net. The other two teams in Egypt’s group are Cape Verde and Ghana. They are scheduled to meet today, with the winner of the latter advancing to the playoffs. Egypt were favorites to beat Mozambique, but missing out on a point means Salah has some work to do after a poor performance despite his best efforts.
Liverpool will certainly be watching him closely. If Egypt are eliminated from the group stage, Salah could play again for Liverpool in their Premier League clash with Chelsea at Anfield later this month. However, if Egypt win, they could miss this game and the trip to Arsenal. Before then, Liverpool will face Bournemouth, Norwich City or Bristol Rovers in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah scored a 97th-minute penalty to give Egypt a point in their AFCON win over Mozambique, leaving the Pharaohs with a lot of work to do to get out of their group. Salah assisted Mostafa Mohamed’s opener after two minutes before two goals from Biti and Klesio Bauque turned the game around. However, Domingos Macanza converted a penalty in the last minute.
