Moisés Caicedo should have talked to Timo Werner as Liverpool won’t fear new title threat.

Timo Werner is set to make a surprise return to the Premier League. Liverpool have been chasing him at one point, but there is no need to worry.

 

Timo Werner appears to be on loan at Tottenham. Liverpool will be watching with interest, but there will be no regrets.

Chelsea signed Timo Werner with fanfare in June 2020. A product of the Red Bull system, he seemed to fit perfectly into Liverpool’s burgeoning forward line, but it was his signing that saw the Blues win the race.

Two years later, Werner returned to Leipzig, his credibility and reputation shattered. Even the familiar surroundings of the East German club could only restore a shadow of the striker who was once considered one of the most promising players in Europe, followed by Liverpool and many others.

As January approached, Leipzig were open to offers and Werner was a priority. It is a renowned talent factory and there is plenty of bright young talent for the 27-year-old.

But with his time at Chelsea ending with the promise of a prospect never fulfilled, clubs are once again queuing up to unlock him as they look for options during the winter transfer window.

Despite interest from Manchester United and an imminent loan deal, it looks like he  have won the race.It’s surprising Liverpool don’t line up. Like Tottenham, they will lose their talisman in international competition this month, but that won’t put the club on the market.

This is especially true for players who haven’t peaked in three or more years.Instead, Jurgen Klopp is also urging Diogo Jota to move on. After all, he was Werner’s equal and their contrast speaks volumes.

This pair has almost opposite reputations. At Chelsea, Werner was known for being good at many things, including timing his runs and locating his finishing positions. Jota, on the other hand, has the ability to play a very quiet game and still find ways to make a significant contribution in front of goal. It will be interesting to see if Ange Postecoglou can resurrect Werner. There will definitely be players there. After all, Liverpool’s scouts are rarely wrong. But Klopp is not worried about the potential impact on the title race.Ironically, Tottenham are just one point behind Arsenal, so we have to add them into the picture. But the arrival of just one Liverpool favorite doesn’t faze the manager.
