Rob Gronkowski, the legendary tight end who won four Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, believes that the team’s dynasty is secure even if the Kansas City Chiefs chase history.
Gronkowski, who played for the Patriots from 2010 to 2018 and won four Super Bowl rings, including three with Tom Brady, made the comments in an interview with Reuters.
“I think the Patriots’ dynasty is secure, no matter what,” Gronkowski said. “They’ve won six Super Bowls, and they’ve been to nine. That’s a dynasty. That’s a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
The Patriots’ dynasty, which began in 2001 with the team’s first Super Bowl victory under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, has been one of the most successful in NFL history. The team won six Super Bowls and appeared in nine during the Belichick-Brady era.
However, the Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, have been chasing history in recent years. The team won Super Bowl LIV in 2020 and has appeared in three consecutive AFC Championship Games.
Gronkowski, who played with the Patriots during their dynasty years, believes that the Chiefs’ success is not a threat to the Patriots’ legacy.
“I think the Chiefs are a great team, and they’re definitely chasing history,” Gronkowski said. “But I don’t think they can take away from what the Patriots accomplished. The Patriots’ dynasty is secure, and it’s going to be remembered for generations to come.”
Gronkowski also praised the Patriots’ organization and the team’s commitment to winning.
“The Patriots are a great organization, and they’re always going to be competitive,” Gronkowski said. “They’ve got a great coach in Bill Belichick, and they’ve always got a strong team. I think they’ll always be a contender, no matter what.”
The Patriots, who finished the 2023 season with a 9-8 record, are looking to rebuild and return to contention in the 2025 season. The team has made several changes to its coaching staff and roster, and Gronkowski believes that they have the potential to be a strong team.
“I think the Patriots have a great chance to be a strong team in 2025,” Gronkowski said. “They’ve got a lot of talent, and they’ve made some great moves in the offseason. I think they’ll be a contender, and they’ll definitely be a team to watch.”
Overall, Gronkowski believes that the Patriots’ dynasty is secure, and that the team’s legacy will continue to be remembered for generations to come.
