Pep Guardiola confirms double Man City injury blow after losing ground to Liverpool

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed a double injury blow following his team’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Bournemouth, which has seen the Citizens lose ground to Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

The Spaniard revealed that key players Kevin De Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte suffered injuries during the match, casting a shadow over City’s already dampened spirits.

“Kevin and Aymeric have injuries, and we will assess them tomorrow,” Guardiola said in his post-match press conference. “It’s a concern, but we will see the extent of the damage.”

De Bruyne, City’s midfield maestro, was substituted in the 65th minute with an apparent hamstring issue, while Laporte limped off with a knock to his knee.

The loss of these two players would be a significant blow to City’s title aspirations, particularly with Liverpool gaining momentum.

“Kevin and Aymeric are crucial players for us,” Guardiola admitted. “We will miss them, but we have a deep squad and must adapt.”

Guardiola’s concerns were echoed by City midfielder Phil Foden, who acknowledged the impact of the injuries.

“Losing Kevin and Aymeric is huge for us,” Foden said. “We need them fit and firing if we want to win the title.”

The defeat to Bournemouth has left City five points adrift of Liverpool, and Guardiola knows his team must regroup quickly.

“We can’t afford to drop more points,” Guardiola emphasized. “We must focus on our next game and get back to winning ways.”

City’s injury woes have sparked concern among fans, with many worried about the team’s ability to cope without De Bruyne and Laporte.

“Losing De Bruyne and Laporte is devastating,” tweeted City supporter and blogger, Blue Moon. “We need our squad players to step up and fill the void.”
