Positive update on Andy Robertson’s injury recovery

Andy Robertson’s recovery from injury is progressing “well” and the left-back is expected to return next month.
Liverpool’s number 26 suffered a dislocated shoulder after colliding with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon, who was playing for Scotland, during the international break in October.

Robertson had to undergo surgery to correct the problem, which ruled him out for an extended period for Liverpool. The defender’s absence will be unpleasant for Jurgen Klopp and his partners, but the recovery is progressing according to plan.

According to the Daily Mail, Robertson is back on the training pitch at the AXA Training Center and will be ready to return to the first team next month. The Scotland captain “has yet to take part in contact training” and is instead focusing on running on grass to improve his condition, according to the report.

So far, Robertson has missed eight Premier League games for Liverpool through injury, with Kostas Tsimikas and Joe Gomez playing at left-back. Of his recovery during the final international break at the end of November, Robertson said: “I’m getting there slowly and surely. The operation was successful and most importantly there were no complications or anything.“You have to do it slowly, slowly, every week.
So far so good and I hope it stays that way.

“Hopefully we’ll be back on grass before we know it.”The latest update on Robertson is welcome news for Liverpool fans, who have faced an increasing number of injuries as the season approaches its halfway point.

Diogo Jota, Alexis McAllister, Stefan Baicetic and Thiago Robertson all feature for the Reds, while Joel Matip will miss the rest of the season with a torn cruciate ligament.
