Dak Prescott’s season is likely over due to a partial avulsion of his right hamstring, which may require season-ending surgery. The Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback will meet with a specialist in New York on Monday to determine the best course of action.
The Cowboys’ first game without Prescott ended in a 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, with Cooper Rush and Trey Lance combining for just 66 passing yards. The team turned the ball over five times.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones expressed concern about the team’s performance, stating that they weren’t playing well even with Prescott. The team has lost four straight home games, a streak that dates back to 2015.
With Prescott out, the Cowboys will rely on Rush and Lance to lead the team. Rush, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, has gone 5-2 as Prescott’s replacement during his Cowboys tenure. Lance, acquired by the Cowboys in a trade, remains a mystery and will likely see more playing time in the coming weeks.
The Cowboys’ season is looking increasingly bleak, with eight games remaining and a 3-6 record. Coach Mike McCarthy’s job security is also under scrutiny, as he enters the final year of his contract.
