Rio Ngumoha reveals words of advice from Raheem Sterling before Liverpool transfer

Rio Ngumoha, Liverpool’s latest signing, has revealed the words of advice he received from Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling before completing his transfer to Anfield. In an exclusive interview, Ngumoha shared the valuable guidance he received from Sterling, who himself once donned the Reds’ jersey.

Ngumoha, an 18-year-old winger, joined Liverpool from non-league side, A.F.C. Wimbledon’s academy, in a deal worth around £1.5 million. As he begins his journey at Anfield, he sought advice from Sterling, who spent four successful years at Liverpool before moving to Manchester City in 2015.

“Raheem told me to stay focused, work hard, and be patient,” Ngumoha revealed. “He said the step up from non-league to the Premier League would be huge, but if I kept my head down and listened to the coaches, I’d have a great chance of succeeding.”

Sterling’s words resonated deeply with Ngumoha, who admitted feeling both excited and intimidated by the prospect of joining Liverpool. “Hearing from someone like Raheem, who’s been through similar experiences, gave me massive confidence,” Ngumoha said. “He reminded me that I’ve earned this opportunity and to enjoy the ride.”

Ngumoha also praised Sterling’s willingness to offer guidance, demonstrating the camaraderie among professional footballers. “Raheem didn’t have to take the time to speak with me, but he did,” Ngumoha acknowledged. “It shows the kind of person he is – willing to help others succeed.”

Sterling’s advice wasn’t limited to on-field matters; he also emphasized the importance of adapting to Liverpool’s culture and environment. “He told me to immerse myself in the city, learn about the fans, and understand the club’s history,” Ngumoha shared. “Raheem said that would help me connect with the team and the supporters.”

Ngumoha’s conversation with Sterling also touched on the challenges he’ll face at Liverpool. “Raheem warned me about the pressure and expectation that comes with playing for a top club,” Ngumoha said. “He reminded me to stay grounded and focused on my goals.”

As Ngumoha begins his Liverpool career, he’s already made a positive impression on manager Jurgen Klopp. “Rio has tremendous potential,” Klopp said. “We’re excited to help him develop and become a valuable member of our squad.”

Ngumoha’s signing represents Liverpool’s continued commitment to nurturing young talent. With Sterling’s guidance and Klopp’s mentorship, the teenager is poised to make the most of his opportunity.
