The Dallas Cowboys are heading in the wrong direction. Coming into the fifth season under head coach Mike McCarthy, there were high expectations for Dallas after three consecutive 12-5 seasons and postseason appearances. There was hope this year’s version could make a push deep into the playoffs.
Nine games into the 2024 campaign and fans of “America’s Team” aren’t thinking about the postseason – far from it. That’s because the team has struggled to a dismal 3-6 record. Any hopes of the offense improving took a major hit when quarterback Dak Prescott, who signed for the most guaranteed money in NFL history before the season started, had season-ending surgery on Wednesday.
While the Cowboys don’t play until Monday night in a matchup with the in-state rival Houston Texans, the team’s performance came up during the “Fox NFL Sunday” pre-game show. Oddly enough, Rob Gronkowski brought up the Cowboys when talking about his visit to AT&T Stadium on Friday to watch the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight. “I want to tip my hat to those two women that fought before the main event,” Gronkowski said. “I mean, they’re going after it. That’s what boxing is all about.”
“And then the main event. Well, first off, here’s a fun fact – Jake Paul has more victories than the Dallas Cowboys do at their own stadium this year.” “I wouldn’t have said that,” Terry Bradshaw suggested. “That’s a shot fired right there,” the former tight end admitted. “But it’s just the truth. I’m only talking true facts here, ladies and gentlemen.” “You can fire shots,” Michael Strahan said. “You don’t play anymore.”
Interestingly, Gronk wasn’t the only one firing shots. Moments before he fired his, the Fox broadcast took a shot at Netflix and the buffering issues it suffered during Friday night’s fights, showing a video of an interview with the former player and Shaquille O’Neal in Texas that didn’t include any conversation but only the buffering signal.
