“Wednesday, November 27th, has been marked in my agenda for two months. I’m really looking forward to playing against Club Brugge,” he said.
“Did you know I was on my way to sign for Celtic when the Champions League draw was in progress? I was on my way to the airport with my agent and we were following the draw.
“I remember saying that I just wanted to see Club Brugge and Celtic roll out of that ball. Suddenly both teams were linked. I started nudging my agent and shouting in that taxi. That driver didn’t realise what was happening [laughs].”
Celtic started the Champions League campaign with a 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava and then suffered a 7-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund. Since then, they drew against Atalanta and registered a 3-1 win over RB Leipzig at home.
Ahead of the clash against the Jupiler Pro League side, Engels talked about the defeat to BVB.
“I’m looking forward to playing football against Club Brugge. Although they are playing well, lol. But we can say the same. The 7-1 defeat on the Borussia Dortmund? A learning moment… Against RB Leipzig we showed our true face. Especially at home, we are very dominant. It could be fun against Club Brugge,” Engels explained.
