Steven Gerrard ‘takes responsibility’ as Saudi Arabia’s worst nightmare continues

Steven Gerrard’s trials in Saudi Arabia continued on Thursday night after his side went two months without a win. Al-Etifaq last won on October 28 and have recorded just one win in their last 13 matches in all competitions, leaving them just eight points above the relegation zone.

Gerrard thought he would go three points clear of league-bottom Al Hazem earlier this week, but Demarai Gray’s goal was canceled out by a last-minute equalizer as the visitors shared the lead. Poor performances on the pitch have put pressure on Liverpool, sparking calls for new signings ahead of the January transfer window that could help turn the team’s fortunes around.
