Saints’ DE Cam Jordan reveals he has no plans to retire: “I’ve got three great years left”
Cam Jordan and the New Orleans Saints had a tough year last year. They lost their starting QB, went from back up to back up, and saw their coach get fired.
The New Orleans Saints are currently in a rebuilding process. They have a new coach, a shaky quarterback situation at best and look far from being contenders in the NFC. Today they got a bit of good news when their star passer rusher committed to playing at least a few more seasons.
Plenty of gas in the tank for Jordan
He paid a visit to Kay Adams and the Up and Adams Show this morning and told the Fan Duel TV host that he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. The long time Saint has been in New Orleans since he was drafted out of the University of California in 2011.
Since then he has established himself as one of the leagues best pass rushers in the last decade and a half. He was a first team All-Pro in 2017, made the second team in 2018 and 2019 and has gone to 8 Pro Bowls. Maybe his most prestigious honor was getting named to the 2010 All Decade Team as one of the top pass rushers of the decade.
He is now in year 15 and has no plans of calling it quits anytime soon. The defensive end that has registered 716 total tackles an 121.5 sacks in 14 seasons. When asked if he was getting close to hanging it up, Jordan said, “In my mind, I’ve got three great years left.”
No retirement tour just yet
The Saints are going to need some time to get back to being competitive in the NFC after a disastrous season. At least they got a rare bit of good news with the news that their legendary pass rusher is sticking New Orleans for at least the remaining year on his contract.
When Adams asked him if he was gunning for a retirement tour like Brandon Graham and Eli Manning had, he retorted “When you see me get super skinny and I got that big ole lollipop head from all the weight that I lost, that’s when you’ll know I’m not going back. Or the opposite you’ll see me 400 lbs because all I’m doing is traveling, eating and drinking well.”
The Saints start up mandatory mini camp on Tuesday and it will run until the 12th of June. There are a lot of storylines coming into the new season in New Orleans, but at least the status of their pass rusher can be put to rest.
