Fresh off the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, newly appointed New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore is attempting to bring several key Eagles assistants with him to the Big Easy. Moore, who orchestrated Philadelphia’s high-powered offense during their championship run as offensive coordinator, has wasted no time assembling his new staff.
According to NFL Network reports, he has already conducted interviews with Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier and defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator Christian Parker for coordinator positions in New Orleans.
The potential departures could significantly impact Philadelphia’s coaching structure. Nussmeier’s connection with Moore runs deep, as the two previously worked together in Dallas and Los Angeles before reuniting in Philadelphia. Their established rapport makes Nussmeier a strong candidate for the Saints’ offensive coordinator position.
Parker’s potential loss could be just as significant after an impressive 2024 season in which he helped develop rookies Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean into Defensive Rookie of the Year candidates. Under his leadership, the Eagles boasted the NFL’s top-ranked pass defense, making him an attractive candidate for defensive coordinator jobs around the league. Adding to the possible poaching exodus, Eagles assistant head coach and running backs coach Jemal Singleton has also interviewed for the Saints’ offensive coordinator role, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Singleton’s stock is particularly high after guiding Saquon Barkley to a record-breaking 2,504-yard rushing season and leading one of the league’s best ball security programs
