Top Trade Destinations for Patriots Quarterback Joe Milton

The New England Patriots went from having no long-term quarterbacks to two interesting quarterback prospects in one draft.

After selecting Drake Maye third overall to be the starting quarterback, the Patriots also took Joe Milton III in the sixth round, a big, athletic QB out of Tennessee.

In limited action in the preseason and the final game of the season, Milton showed flashes of huge potential. He has shown why people were excited about his potential despite being a sixth-round pick.

After signing quarterback Joshua Dobbs, it seems more likely than not that the Patriots will look to move on from the young backup QB and capitalize on his current value.

It is hard to gauge what his value actually is, but given how many quarterback-needy teams there are, there should be interest at least.

Of the QB-needy teams, here are the three that make the most sense as destinations for Joe Milton.

1. Las Vegas Raiders

While the Raiders did just trade for Geno Smith, he is 34 years old and should only serve as a temporary starting option.

The Raiders could still use a young quarterback to earn some playing time down the line when the team inevitably moves on from Smith.

Combine that with the Tom Brady-Patriots relationship, and a trade between the two sides makes a lot of sense.

2. Seattle Seahawks

After moving on from Geno Smith and other top players, the Seahawks are seemingly in a rebuild. They did sign Sam Darnold to be their starting quarterback, but a young backup would make sense for them.

Darnold signed for three years, but that doesn’t mean he will last that long as the starter.

The Seahawks have a solid young roster to surround Milton if he becomes a starter within a couple of years, making them another interesting landing spot.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are the most unknown when it comes to the quarterback position right now, so a trade makes sense for them.

Most potential landing spots for QBs seem to have at least a young option or a veteran option, but after losing Justin Fields to the Jets and currently looking for alternative options to Russell Wilson, trading for Milton could serve as an interesting alternative.

It is doubtful Milton would start right away, as is the case with the other teams on this list, but he could be starting sooner rather than later depending on who the team brings in as a veteran option.

Milton backing up Aaron Rodgers would be very interesting.
