Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Performance against Arsenal went viral as Liverpool progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium.
Reds were under a lot of pressure in the first half. Arsenal had 13 shots on target, but couldn’t get past Alisson Becker on the crossbar.
The second half was more even and Liverpool scored an own goal in the 80th minute when Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick beat Jakub Kivior.
Luis Diaz made it 2-0 after 95 minutes with a powerful strike into the top corner from 18 yards before Aaron Ramsdale had a chance to save.
Soon after, a compilation of Alexander-Arnold’s action displays was shared on Twitter.
Although his free-kick that made it 1-0 was his most important contribution in attack, Alexander-Arnold was also very strong in defence.
As usual in Liverpool games, the right-back often pushed forward into midfield, sometimes stepping in between the two centre-backs when the opportunity arose.
He once split the defense with the ball and perfectly placed Darwin Nunez on the left flank of the Reds attack. Liverpool’s number 66 did not win the man of the match award, but it went to teammate Ibrahim Konate.
It was another outstanding performance from the right back.Alexander-Arnold told the BBC after the game: “We dug deep to score two goals in the second half.
We turned it around at half-time and went out and played football and created chances.”The changes in the system affected us. In the first half we were a bit naive when we played wide.“We kept playing [in the second half], had presence and used the speed of Darwin and Lucho (Diaz).
Darwin came out and used his speed on their quarterback.”Jurgen Klopp’s changes have clearly paid off, with Liverpool now safely through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
