UNC basketball offers top player in 2027 class

The North Carolina Tar Heels are still navigating through the 2025-26 college basketball season as Hubert Davis and the staff look to make a run in the NCAA Tournament. But the future of the program is also important with future recruiting classes.

While North Carolina has one commitment in the 2026 class, they could potentially add another with the decision of five-star guard Dylan Mingo. As for 2027, the Tar Heels don’t have a commit but they do have some big offers out.

The newest offer from North Carolina is to the top recruit in the 2027 class.

On Thursday, North Carolina entered the race for five-star power forward Marcus Spears Jr. out of Texas. The 6-foot-9, 195-pound Spears now has 24 offers, including from some premier programs in the country.

Spears plays at Dynamic Prep in Dallas, Texas and is ranked No. 1 nationally per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
