”Was so good on the left”

Chelsea secured an important home win over Everton on Saturday afternoon and Noni Madueke’s starting position was the subject of much discussion among fans.

The Blues secured a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge against Everton to boost their hopes of Champions League qualification, with Nicholas Jackson

ending his recent goalless run with a superb first-half strike that smashed a low shot into the bottom corner.

The result temporarily lifted Enzo Maresca’s side to fourth in the Premier League table as they played an early match on Saturday. They now have four top-flight games to play to stay in the top five.

Chelsea’s player assessments against Everton revealed some very strong individual performances as the battle for Champions League places intensifies.

Chelsea fans were delighted by Noni Madueke’s performance on the left against Everton

Noni Madueke, who almost always plays on the right flank, made a surprise start for Chelsea against Everton on the opposite flank.

The 23-year-old left-footed winger started the match and spent his entire time on the left flank. And he was very impressive.

Chelsea fans on social media agreed that Madueke put in a really strong performance in an unfamiliar position against Everton.

Noni Madueke is happy to remain at Chelsea despite interest from numerous clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

The skilful winger is approaching two-and-a-half seasons with the Blues where he has shown he has the potential to become a key player.

Chelsea are starting to see many of their wingers blossom in this crucial period of the season.

Madueke should take confidence from his overall performance this weekend, while Pedro Neto has also been very noticeable with his dynamic play on the right flank.

Despite making a major contribution when on the pitch, Jadon Sancho was left out of the starting line-up against Everton.

If the Blues are to secure Champions League qualification and win the Conference League, they will need a team effort from the whole team.

Back in February, Paul Merson urged Chelsea to keep the same two wingers, but Maresca has the depth to rotate players in those positions.
