It doesn’t matter if it’s Mac, (Bailey) Zappe or whoever. I do not care. “I think both Mack and Zappe are talented. They have to do it. And it will be up to them.”Jones had a disappointing third season with the Patriots and appears to need a fresh start. The 2021 first-round pick has been benched for Zappé’s past six games, with multiple reports suggesting he has lost the support of coaches and players.
But if New England doesn’t trade a quarterback with the third pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Jones could return for a fourth season. Judon and the rest of the team’s management might not admit it, but it’s hard to imagine they’ll be happy about Jones returning as a starter. A QB cannot function well behind that line or receiver or if the HC does not allow the OC to open the playbook.
