The 2021 first-round pick has been benched for Zappé’s past six games, with multiple reports suggesting he has lost the support of coaches and players.
But if New England doesn’t trade a quarterback with the third pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Jones could return for a fourth season. Judon and the rest of the team’s management might not admit it, but it’s hard to imagine they’ll be happy about Jones returning as a starter. A QB cannot function well behind that line or receiver or if the HC does not allow the OC to open the playbook.
