Liverpool are considering their summer options ahead of a busy transfer window. As well as finding a suitable replacement for the departing Jurgen Klopp, the Reds are looking for new players to strengthen their ranks as they enter a new era at Anfield. Three players are set to leave the club at the end of the season, including Joel Matip, whose final season appears to have been cut short by a cruciate ligament injury. Liverpool have been exploring new defensive options, but with Matip set to leave, a centre-back could be their priority this summert.
Several names have been linked with a move to Merseyside, with Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen also on the radar, according to a new report from Fichajes. Manchester United will reportedly “make every effort” to bring the 27-year-old to the club this summer and “could pay up to €50m (€42.7m)” in transfer fees . Christensen signed with Barcelona in 2022, ending his 10-year career at Chelsea. He joined the club on a free transfer, signing a loan deal until 2026 for a fee of €500m (£427m). The aim was to secure the player’s status at the club and prevent further cheap losses.
However, Fichajes reported that Barcelona are currently in a “vulnerable financial situation” which could see them need to borrow money from key players to raise funds. Christensen is a famous player who believes everything he earns through sales will come through free agency.
The 27-year-old is a regular in the squad and is enjoying an injury-free season after struggling with ankle and muscle problems last season. During his time at Chelsea, he made 161 appearances and won various honours, including helping the team win the Champions League and FA Cup.
