Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has once again been linked with the Germany job ahead of stepping down as Reds boss at the end of the season
In January, the Liverpool boss announced his intention to step down as manager at the end of the season. It will bring an end to Klopp’s long-running tenure that began in October 2015 and brought Premier League and Champions League glory, with opportunities to add more silverware in the current campaign.
When explaining his decision to leave the Reds, Klopp cited the fact that he was “running out of energy” and admitted that he may not return to management in the future, ruling out taking a job for at least a year. However, the former Borussia Dortmund coach has perennnially been touted as an option to become Germany manager.
Klopp’s commitment to Liverpool meant that, despite the various links, the chances of the 56-year-old seriously considering Germany job always felt slim. Julian Nagelsmann was appointed as Hansi Flick’s successor in 2023 but his contract runs until the end of this summer’s European Championships, which will be hosted on home soil.
