Gomez has been a key part of the Reds’ success this season, playing a number of roles in the team to help cover for injuries in his 36 appearances this campaign.
On Wednesday night, in his side’s 3-0 win over Southampton in the fifth round of the FA Cup, he played in midfield in what was an injury-stricken Liverpool team, and received rave reviews for his performance.
Infamously, the 26-year-old has never scored a senior goal, failing to find the back of the net in 233 professional games for both Charlton and Liverpool and in all competitions.
It has become somewhat of a running joke that Liverpool fans are urging him to shoot, but Reds manager has requested his side’s supporters put a stop to it.
