Mark Goldbridge has dubbed the referee in charge of Manchester United and Liverpool’s FA Cup quarter-final clash the “biggest w***er”.
United knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup on Sunday by clinching a dramatic 4-3 victory at Old Trafford. That was thanks to super-substitute Amad Diallo, who came on to score in stoppage time of extra-time.
Diallo, 21, celebrated emphatically, approaching the Red Devils supporters in the corner of the ground before taking off his shirt and holding it up to show his name on the back. But having sealed the win, the Ivorian was immediately shown a second yellow followed by a red card for taking his top off.
It meant United had to see the remaining minutes out with 10 men, while Diallo will miss the side’s next fixture. And Red Devils-supporting YouTuber Goldbridge was left incensed by the decision as he took aim at referee John Brooks on social media for not giving the youngster the benefit of the doubt in clearly special circumstances.
The 44-year-old wrote on X: “Ref was absolute s***e by the way and sending Amad off after that is up their with the biggest w***er moves in footballing history.”
