Father of Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark, Lee Clark, has expressed his ‘wish’ to see his son don the Newcastle kit in future.
Bobby Clark has burst onto the scene in much fashion after joining the Reds just two years ago as a 16-year-old teenager.
The club and Jurgen Klopp’s commitment to seamlessly integrate young talents into the senior team has seen the 19-year-old emerge as a crucial senior team member.
However, the Newcastle-born midfielder rose through the youth ranks of Newcastle United, the same club his father played for.
Bobby’s father Lee Clark was an attacker who made 260 appearances for the Magpies between 1989 and 2006.
Lee Clark Wants to See Liverpool Youngster Bobby Clark Play for Newcastle
Lee Clark recently expressed his wish for his son’s future on the No Tippy Tappy Football by William Hill and Footy Accumulators.
“My ultimate wish would absolutely be to see Bobby playing for Newcastle. I don’t know how many father and son combinations have both appeared for the club.
I was lucky enough to play for them 265 times and, who knows, he might have to do an Alan Shearer and come back! That would be my dream.”
Bobby Clark’s Rise to Prominence
The former Al-Ittihad manager also spoke about how his son informed him about the departure of Klopp. He stated,
“On the Wednesday evening after beating Fulham, Bobby and the lads were feeling sky high because they had helped the team reach the Carabao Cup final.
But the next morning, Jurgen called a team meeting to announce that he was leaving. That is a great example of the ups and downs of football.
Bobby texted me and said, ‘Dad, I need to speak to you’ – I thought something bad had happened to him personally.
He told me that Jurgen was leaving and I was gutted, so just imagine how the players felt. Now it seems to have galvanised the group even more. They want to make it a memorable season for the boss when he leaves.”
Even though his father wants to see Bobby play for the Magpies, it does not look like it is going to happen soon.
Clark has been impressive with his on-field displays so far and it is safe to say that he will grow even better with age.
Furthermore, if the day to sell the 19-year comes, Liverpool will be making good profit on the outstanding midfielder.
