Liverpool star Harvey Elliott has lauded the atmosphere of their home ground Anfield and the support of fans. The Merseyside stadium is one of the most electrifying venues in the world.
Anfield has been a fortress for the Reds in the past with only a handful of defeats at home since last few years. In terms of the Premier League, Liverpool haven’t lost since Crysencio Summerville scored a late winner for Leeds United in October 2022. This season, with Jurgen Klopp’s farewell season, the stadium has become even more dynamic and charged. Managers and players have been praising the atmosphere of the ground in the past at times.
The young talent was recognising the impact of the home ground on the players and opposition. Although the ground needs no special mention, it will be soothing for the fans to hear some praise from their own man. The unwavering support of the crowd is something which makes Anfield a mesmerizing venue. Elliott said,
“Our fans are amazing. Not only at Anfield but away games as well, they travel all around the world to watch us play. They drive us on and they’re our 12th man. For us playing at Anfield walking out to You’ll Never Walk Alone, hearing the fans sing, there’s no better feeling and better buzz to play our football.”
We all know just how good Liverpool’s record is at Anfield domestically. But their form in continental competition isn’t quite as stellar. The odd defeat has happened. The last one was a doozy as well. Liverpool were hammered 5-2 by Real Madrid in February last year. Since then, it’s worth noting that the Reds have been perfect. However, this record changed last night when Atalanta ran past them in the first leg.
