Over the weekend it was announced that 2027 five-star point guard Nasir Anderson has scheduled eight official visits in hopes of figuring out where he will play college ball for the 2027-28 season. Among the teams listed was North Carolina, who has a loaded recruiting board thanks to the aggressiveness of Michael Malone.
According to Kentucky’s SB Nation site A Sea of Blue, Anderson will be visiting UNC on October 30th, and it will be his last visit of the eight. He also plans to visit Providence, Virginia, Syracuse, USC, Kentucky, Georgia, and Tennessee prior to his stop in Chapel Hill. It’s worth noting that there were some schools in his top 10 that he hasn’t scheduled an official visit for yet, which are UConn, Indiana, and Florida. Whether or not he plans to schedule visits with those schools is unknown at this time.
Anderson is a 6’3 point guard that currently plays for Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is the third-best point guard in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite, and he is the eighth-best player overall. Anderson earned a slew of scholarship offers during his recruitment from schools like Oregon, NC State, Louisville, Kansas, Illinois, and Alabama. However, all those schools were left out of his top 10, so we will presumably see the talented point guard select from one of the schools that are apart of his eight official visits.
Michael Malone has stated that he is going hard on the recruiting trail because he believes North Carolina should be landing some of the best players in the country. That is clear in the list of scholarship offers for the 2027 class — he has offered eight of the top 10 players in the country, one of which is Beckham Black, who is not only the best point guard in the country, but the best overall player. Will this create a complication in Anderson’s recruitment? Time will tell, but it’s worth noting that Black has held his scholarship offer since January, so to this point Anderson doesn’t seem to be bothered by the competition.
