Nasir Anderson didn’t need long to show why he’s one of the most coveted guards in the 2027 class.
Fresh off wowing North Carolina’s staff at the Adidas 3SSB circuit in Indiana, the five-star point guard flew to Athens to star again — this time for the Adidas 3SSB select team at the Adidas Next Generation EuroLeague under-18 tournament.
In the program’s first appearance at the event, Anderson flashed the full package that led UNC to offer him last June and re-offer under Michael Malone: a downhill scorer who nearly logged a triple-double, averaged 15.7 points and 9.7 assists, and dictated games on a global stage. 3SSB reached the qualifier against Barcelona by beating Zalgiris Kaunas 104-83 on Thursday and Crvena Zvezda Belgrade 97-84 on Friday.
Anderson opened the event with 19 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and a steal, going 9-for-16 on 2-pointers and not attempting a 3. On Friday, he nearly posted a triple-double with 18 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds while shooting 7-for-14 from the field and 1-for-3 from beyond the arc.
In the qualifier against a Barcelona squad led by UNC commit Sayon Keita and Duke commit Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje, Anderson played just over 20 minutes but still recorded nine assists, two rebounds and a steal. Much of Barcelona’s decisive third-quarter run came while he was in the training room after a pileup involving several players.
For the tournament, Anderson put together a notable stat line: 15.7 points, 9.7 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 2.7 turnovers and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 51.4 percent on 2-pointers (19-for-37), went 2-for-6 from 3 (33.3 percent) and 3-for-7 at the free-throw line (42.9 percent).
