Liverpool host Luton Town and have one more player to be suspended. Alexis McAllister will walk the tightrope when Liverpool play Luton Town on Sunday (16.30 GMT).
The Reds midfielder has received four bookings in the Premier League and has no record of a one-match suspension.
McAllister joined from Brighton for £35m this summer and has played in a number six role for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The Argentine’s need to probe his defense means he has picked up four yellow cards in 10 games.
It now looks almost certain that Mac Allister will be suspended at some point as he is unlikely to receive a yellow card for the next nine games. A player who receives five yellow cards in his team’s 19 Premier League matches will be banned from playing one match in one competition.
This means Mc Allister will travel to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town knowing they will have to tread carefully. However, fans can hope that the 24-year-old has in fact been booked as it means he is ready for the important trip to Manchester City after the international break on Saturday 25 November.
If Mc Allister wrote in the referee’s notes at Luton, he will miss next week’s game against Brentford. McAllister was shown a straight red card in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth in August. However, the Reds successfully overturned the decision and McAllister avoided a three-match ban.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has received three bookings in the Premier League so far, while Diogo Jota, Ibrahima Konate and Harvey Elliott have received two bookings so far.
